I wanted to share with you all a couple of pictures of Gord in his OT therapy with Angie. Just about every day she hooks him up with electrodes on the muscles in his right arm to stimulate movement. He still cannot make any movement himself but we are going to keep trying. You can see the fingers lifting up in one of the shots. He is getting back to the normal Gord and actually putting some weight on so he looks more healthy. I am also going to try to include a video I took last night of him walking on the parallel bars without touching them. He looks very serious but that is because he is working so hard to concentrate on this task. Have a good day...no, a great day... Love Sheila
HI Gord and Sheila,
ReplyDeleteJust want you both to know that we keep up to date on your progress, and keep hoping for more and more improvement. We know that it does not come easy, but, then Saskatchewan boys were never afraid of a little work.
I wathed the video and I found it amazing. Even if Gord's face were covered, I would have still known it was Gord. Something about the posture, and how you move, and or hold your head, it has not chaged. It is still Gord.
Just a little note about the old days Gord, remember the days of Joy compressors, Happy coolers and Climax engines!!
Cheers from Ferne and Ed
Thank you Sheila for sharing your life with us in this way. It is so meaningful to have visuals of Gord working so hard with so much determination. We love you guys! R&E
ReplyDeleteDear Sheila & Gord,
ReplyDeleteI thought of Gord yesterday during some frustrating moments at LAX Airport... we were returning from a long flight back from Australia and LAX was in complete chaos due to renovations. The longest lines we have ever experienced (worse than the Maui Airport during spring break) were snaking around the customs, security clearance, etc. Normally after 17 hours of flying on 3 different planes and 3 different airports, I would not have been a happy camper waiting in those lines. (Bitchy is more like it!) Anyhow, I thought of Gord and how hard he is working to be able to get back to doing what the rest of us take for granted every single day and it totally changed my attitude. I actually counted my blessings that I was able to stand in those lines and haul my suitcase amidst all that craziness. We wish both of you all of our best and look forward to your updates.

PS:Dave's cousin Gregg has been using a sleep apnea machine for a couple of years now and it seems to work wonders.
Hello You Two
ReplyDeleteThankyou for the updates on Gord. I missed them while you were away in Maui.
Joey had a look at the blog yesterday and was amazed at the progress Gord has made since he last saw him in Calgary. He looks healthy and very determined.
Leni is off to Drumheller next week to do a job. He has not been away on a job since Feb. Terry moved inot his new house out by the Clearwater River so he has been busy landscaping the yard. Five acres so that has kept him out of trouble.
Take Care
Sandy and Leni
Hi Gord and Sheila,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know you are never far from our thoughts and prayers.
I continue to read the progress almost daily.
I hope one day we will be able to be sitting around Antonio and Elena's table again, laughing and having a great time. in the warm sunshine of Maui.
Sheila, again, I say this blog is the greatest
idea to keep each of us, who are so far away, in the know of what is going on, and the pictures are such a delight to see, watching Gord progress each day.
We thank you...
Stay strong and know you are Blessed
