August 2011

Well, I cannot believe how fast the Summer has gone by. We have been battling through rain, hail, wind, you name it.....and very few days in a row of sunshine and clear skies. I think everyone is experiencing a Summer of inclement weather so I know we are not alone.

All is well with Gord. We have been continuing on with therapies and his speech is still improving on a daily basis. It is very encouraging. Physically, the right arm is not showing any signs of voluntary movement. It is all unvoluntary but the arm still looks normal. We went to a clinic at the Foothills so assess the arm and leg and consider Botox injections. A decision will be made on our next visit sometime in September. Walking is good and Gord continues to walk the back street doing almost a mile a day. He is very motivated to keep moving which is a blessing as it keeps his circulation going etc.

I have once again been remiss in keeping up with the blog and I wasn't even sure if I could get on it again. Obviously, I was successful.

Update on grandchildren......

We are up to number NINE with the impending arrival of a daughter to Colby and Laurie Bell in mid December 2011. You will remember Laurie if you read the first blogs. Laurie was the amazing author of those writings. Talented lady!!!

Well, that's all for now. Not sure who is actually following us anymore, but I will update now and again when new information pops up.

Lots of love to all....

Sheila and Gord

  2. Glad for the update. Our weather in Bellingham this summer has been less than stellar!! We have had some nice days during the last 2 weeks with temperatures in the 70's and sunshine but it was a long time coming. Looking forward to seeing both of you on Maui in December.

  3. Yeah I have been checking for an update. Sad to say we have not had even one vist this summer. Our intentions were to call and come for a visit but something always comes up. Leni is only home on weekends and babysitting grandchildren and going to Terry's on weekends to do yard work keep us busy. Terry is on the mend but still unable to work for at least two more months. We still have a few months left before you head back to Maui so hopefully we can set up a visit before you go back.

  5. It is nice to hear from The Blog! I know it's a real challenge to keep it up, but as you see, there are some die-hards who follow religously :) Yes, we miss you both! Good to hear about things moveing along. I can tell the masses that we had a wonderful visit with the two of you back in May on your way hme from Maui. Such a wonderful and memorable time on Galiano. I'm hoping to be able to have a visit with you at Sylvan mid september. Will let you know the details as they arise.
    Love you guys, Evelyn

  8. Sheila and Gordon it is always good to hear as to how you, Gordon and your family are doing. Surprisingly, YES we do follow you blog! We also have had a non-typical summer. It has been raining for the last 4 days in California. Please give our regards to Gordon...and as Carlos would say " Give my Canadian Brother a big hug".

  9. We were so pleased to see you are still updating us with Gord's progress and the happenings in your lives. Winter is slowly approaching here in Montana with snow down to the 6500' level and some pretty frosty mornings. We'll be heading to the islands on the 15th of November and looking forward to sunshine and warm. Summer flew for us also. Since it doesn't get here until about the first part of July that is to be expected. Looking forward to seeing you both as I assume Maui is on the schedule.
