In a bit of a rush today

Sorry about the brevity of this message but I wanted to let anyone that is trying to find me know that I am at the hospital on Monday night. Gord has ripped his feeding tube out every day and it is getting very dangerous to keep reinserting it! I am fed up with the lack of caring in the hospital and to basically save his life I am going to plant myself right beside his bed so nothing more happens to him. Stacy is there with him now and I have just come home to get my toothbrush and tidy up things since I won't be here overnight etc. The swallowing therapist did not show up today! Why? She was apparently too busy! OUCH....that really hurts. As you can see things are heating up ...again. I feel totally abandoned with no one to help me. I don't know WHO is actually taking care of Gord. They change the brain doctor every 5 days. No one seems to know what each other is doing. They are giving Gord blood thinners and I said to the nurse I didn't like that since he had a bleed NOT a clot. He said 'Oh' yeah you don't get thinners unless it's a clot. I will start that fight tomorrow!!!!!!
PRAY FOR ME PLEASE! And I am really beginning to resist going to the hospital - It is almost a month now...and I am sick of it. Sorry for the downbeat note but it's the reality.
Love
Sheila

  3. Hey Sheila, you are Gord's "rock" now. Antonio and I are thinking of you and praying for you to stay healthy and strong in the next few months ahead. We are amazed at the progress described by the daily blogs as we still have the image of Gord in his Maui hospital bed. Thanks for keeping us informed.

  4. Aloha Sheila,

Know that I love you my friend and that my prayers, and that of my church in Maui Hope Chapel are with you and your family! Thank you so very much for taking the time to let us know what to pray for. I know that we have a big God but to know what to pray for daily helps. I watch the blog daily and as I go about my days I pray for you and Gordon. I know that you are a very special lady and that Gordon is blessed to have to to fight this battle with him and for him. Shiela one of the things that I love so much about you is that when you get a cause you are 110%, that hospital and the staff will not stand a chance against you to make things rights. With you by Gordon's side I know that things will improve and Gordon will get the best care possible. I pray that the Lord provide you with the strength you need when you feel like you cannot go on, and others to lift you up as need. I wish I could be with you to just give you a big hug and let you know how much you are both loved. May the Lord hold you both in the palm of his hand and provide you with his peace and love. Aloha Lydia- Kealia #509

We feel your frustration but also know you have many friends praying for you both and caring for you deeply...never feel alone!

Don't lose sight of the fact that this has been less than a month, the journey may be long and Gord will need you every step of the way. Continue to be strong, pace yourself and stay well.

The medical community doesn't always react the way we expect...pick your battles.

    All our love,
    Harris & Carol

  6. Hi Sheila,

I am writing this note from Richard's computer as he has put Gord's Blog on his desktop shortcuts so we can watch Gord's progress daily.

We are so excited everytime there is something new Gord has been able to communicate or do, and wishing we were there to give you a hug everytime you are disheartened or frusterated. We are there with you daily in spirit, even though in distance we are so far.

I have a girlfriend whose father seems to have had the same sort of bleed that Gord has.He has blown all of the doctors away with the amazing progress he has made.

He was blessed (as is Gord) by an amazing wife who refused to let the doctors dictate her husbands possibilities they are now happily living in their own home enjoying their lives! I have no doubt that you and Gord possess the same sort of fighting spirits that will continue to amaze all of us with your progress.

We send our love to both of you, and Bryson and Holly are hoping that Uncle Gord is feeling better soon.

  7. I spent 5 hours at the hospital with Gord yesterday afternoon and it was quite the remarkable day! The rehab team was in and got Gord to stand up twice! I was clapping and cheering and Gord was quite excited too! These young women are all tiny and they have no trouble manouvering Gord around - very cool to see! He was alert for alot of the time and we were visiting about what he knows. My Daughter Jenna called and Gord was amazed at my fancy blackberry phone and I asked Jenna to put her Dad on the phone and I handed the phone to Gord and said - "hey Gord it's for you - it's Richard" - he actually spoke to Richard on the phone!! At the end of the conversation, Richard said "I'll see you at the hospital tomorrow" and Gord said very quickly "Ok then - I'll see you guys up there!" I have been sick with a nasty cold so I haven't seen Gord for a week and I am amazed at how far he has come! I can't wait to see the progress in the next week!

    Way to go Gord!!!!

  10. Hi Sheila,

Greg and I wanted you & Gord and your family to know that we are praying for God's healing hand to be upon Gord and all of you for strength. We have wanted to come but know that your family being there is more important. Alicia wants you to give Gord a big hug for her. Be strong and brave Sheila, you can do this. You have the faith and strength to move mountains and you will. Keep hanging in there and know we are praying.
    Love Greg and Cecile Scott
