We are settling into a good routine now with Gord doing all his physio, speech and occupational before lunch. If you drop by ( sorry Glen and Lorne) we will be down the hall doing our "thing". Gord is around at lunchtime and then usually has a snooze in the afternoon. At 3:30 he is up in his wheelchair and it is a great time for visitors right through to about 7pm when he goes back to bed. By then he is pretty tired and asleep by 8pm at least.
As I said before if anyone wants to join us in the Cafeteria for dinner you are most welcome. You can bring in food from the outside if you prefer. Be prepared to share if it smells good! Give me a quick call to let me know if you are coming and we can meet you in the cafeteria area.
Hope your weather is better than ours! -31 with wind chill coming in today....BRRRRR
Love
Sheila

Aloha Sheila and Gordon,
ReplyDeleteIt is windy on Maui We had a special event this morning in a canoe. Mari arranged to get a canoe for 6 women from Maalea Surf. We have all been paddling routinely. It was windy so a tough paddle but we came down the beach to Maalea Surf - landed the canoe and had coffee that Dave Hutton and Lewis had ready. Gordon would be proud of all his Wahine. We will be returning to the mainland Sunday but I want you to know Gordon is mentioned fondly every day at the canoes and his spirit is seen in all of us who know him. It is wonderful to read about your progress and it's great that Sheila the Pit Bull is beside you to make sure you get the care and attention to make such amazing progress.
Take care - hugs to you both
Gloria Hunt
Hi Gord,
ReplyDeleteGail And I just arrived back in Edmonton from a quick holiday in Arizona.
We got to see Stuart and Gail in Yuma and we had a great time. We rented quads and went quading in the sand dunes --- it was great.
Also Gord, Murray wants you to know that the lemon hart stash at the nerve center is piling up and is waiting for you to join us for happy hour!!!!
Good to hear that your are making great progress in your recovery.
Take Care Big Guy!!
Gail and Murray
Hi Sheila and Gord!
ReplyDeleteWe are checking in often and so excited to see that Gord should be up to his usual hijinks in no time.
Things are crazy busy here as Holly and Bryson keep adding more and more activities to their agendas. Holly is loving her dance class and preparing for an upcoming show in June. She is growing spunkier and spunkier and is really keeping all of us on our toes. She has just increased her preschool days to 3 days a week as she was missing it so much on her off days. I am not ready to part with her more than that at the moment, so next year will be an adjustment when she is registered for 5 (I have already warned them we will be taking many mommy and me days, so they are really only likely to get her for 4.
We did take one day of last week for her first ski lesson at Grouse. She is one very determined little girl and after a few minutes of adjustment and frustration with such heavy gear she pulled of 5 runs and 5 chair rides in an hour.
Bryson is doing long days at school (8:30-3:30)and playing soccer doing tae kwon do twice a week and is about to start ball hockey again.
I also snuck him out of school for an entire day last week to come ski with mom. At the end of last season he was full out racing me to the bottom of the hill, but having just put him on some newer longer skis, I was relieved to see that he has slowed down a fair amount and will still likely enjoy skiing with Richard and I for at least another season!
We are eagerly anticipating Paige's visit, which I think will likely be early April. She is a very busy girl and we keep trading e mail's and messages, but I am sure wee will all catch up again soon.
We are enjoying all the details of your days and sure you must both be enjoying the new scenery, and knowing to some degree what your daily routine will bring.
If you are going to be in Calgary, this is the perfect time with all the cold weather to be a little bit confined indoors. It will make the summer at the lake that much sweeter!
Richard bought me an amzing bouquet for our anniversary (it has a stem of tuberose which is so fragrant that it evokes Maui every time I walk past it. We have been fondly reminiscing about our time spent with you in Maui. I will never forget Gord graciously arranging for your manager at MSURF to video our wedding at the last minute.
HHope you both have an amazing day!
Lots of love,
Richard, Tammy, Bryson and Holly

ReplyDeleteSheila, have you heard of Taking Charge of Your Stroke Recovery (www.takingchargebooks.com)? It may be a useful nutrient tool in Gord's healing, esp. now as he is having more normal food intake. You are aLwaYs close in thought and heart ~
ReplyDelete"Dr. Kathy" ;)
Hi Gord and Sheila
ReplyDeleteWe had a wonderful dinner at Antonio and Elena's home last night, but we all missed you.
We read everyday on Gordon's blog and pray for his continued progress.
It is cool and very windy here in Maui.
But in Michigan is it snowing and freezing rain.
Not much of a choice of where we want to be right now.. :)
Stay strong.. Love, hugs, and warm smiles come you way.
Deloryes and Dave
Don't for a moment think that we are not reading your daily log. It's the first thing I check every morning. Those of us who have been following these proceedings closely stand in awe of the strength and resolve you have displayed through out this entire period. You are an inspiration to us. Thank you.
